Health & Safety for Hairdressing Salons

You must have a Health & Safety Statement to ensure your salon complies with the ‘Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005′ is a legal requirement. It is surprising how many salons do not have even the basic fire fighting equipment. Breaches of The Health and Safety at Work Act could lead to an owner being jailed for up to six months and a fine of up to €3000. An employee who is not satisfied that their salon meets Health & Safety criteria can make a complaint to the Health & Safety Authority. www.hsa.ie

    Any employer must provide a safety statement but they must also communicate this to all of their employees. All employees also have a legal duty to comply with the employer.
